About the Alabama Insurance Underwriting Association

3d Hurricane Alabama Insurance Underwriting Association (AIUA) was established in 1971 by the Commissioner of Insurance of the Alabama Department of Insurance to provide adequate fire and extended coverage to the beach area in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Vandalism was an added peril in 1973. Effective January 1, 2001, AIUA now provides wind/hail only coverage in the beach area and the seacoast area. Originally, the office was located in Montgomery, Alabama, and in 1983 was relocated to Foley. Alabama Insurance Underwriting Association is open for business Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
